Advanced technology to anticipate viral threats

FLUFET is a European project focused on developing an automated system capable of detecting both known and unknown viruses with potential impact on global health. Its approach combines graphene-based field-effect transistors, microfluidics, and a One Health perspective to advance continuous monitoring models in high-risk environments, particularly in the field of zoonoses. The project is coordinated by the University of A Coruña through the Nanoself research group, within an international interdisciplinary consortium.

At ingenyus*, we collaborated closely on the project’s communication and dissemination strategy, with a clear objective: translating a highly complex scientific proposal into a more accessible, visual, and understandable language. To achieve this, we developed a set of outreach materials aligned with FLUFET’s visual identity, including an explanatory video, a flyer, and an infographic, all designed to bring the project closer to diverse audiences and enhance its ability to connect across digital platforms, events, and in-person environments.

One of the key pieces developed was a two-minute explainer video, designed to present FLUFET in a concise, engaging, and effective way. The goal was not only to explain the project, but to connect with the viewer from the outset, placing them within a broader and understandable context: the need for new tools capable of anticipating emerging viral threats and protecting global health. This narrative directly reflects the project’s mission, focused on the automated detection of known and unknown viruses within a One Health framework that links human, animal, and environmental health.

To achieve this, we built a dynamic narrative combining stock footage, explanatory diagrams, and custom visual resources developed by the design team to facilitate understanding. The visual language was crafted around clarity and rhythm, translating complex scientific concepts into an engaging, educational, and easy-to-follow experience. The video was also optimized for contexts where attention spans are limited—such as digital platforms, presentations, or events—and includes both voice-over and subtitles to ensure accessibility and adaptability across formats.

The infographic was conceived as a visual tool to synthesize both the context and the key outcomes of the project into a clear, attractive, and easily digestible format. Designed especially for events, in-person interactions, and exhibition environments, this piece needed to enable immediate understanding without compromising the technical robustness of the content.

Poster FLUFET

At ingenyus*, we developed this application as a natural extension of FLUFET’s visual identity, respecting its graphic universe while enhancing it through a clearer, more structured, and more outreach-oriented composition. The hierarchy of information, the balance between text and visual elements, and the graphic treatment of the content allowed us to transform a complex scientific base into an accessible, recognizable, and effective piece, capable of capturing attention and supporting the explanation of the project in different contexts.

flyer

The flyer completes this system of materials as a practical, versatile, and outreach-oriented piece. Its purpose was to condense the essence of the project into an accessible and easily distributable format, capable of bringing FLUFET closer to broader audiences through clear messaging, a simple structure, and fluid readability.

To achieve this, we developed the content with a balance between technical accuracy and accessible language, adapting the information so that any audience could understand the project’s purpose, relevance, and innovative approach. All of this was articulated within a design aligned with FLUFET’s visual identity, ensuring consistency across all materials and reinforcing a communication that is coherent, professional, and approachable.
